Fathers Active in Communities & Education (FACE)

face program

The FACE program, directed by Mr. Alphonso Rincón, equips parents with information about the importance of their support in their student's academic career. It also promotes intervention and support for academics from local businesses. FACE has three important goals:

  1. To build and demonstrate community and family support in STAR communities
  2. To provide training and awareness for students from these communities to pursue postsecondary education
  3. To focuse on and develop the vital role familial and community support plays in students' preparation at the middle and high school level for success in higher education

Interactive work sessions, designed for parents and students, promote skill-building abilities that reinforce a family's understanding of leadership and the necessity of their active involvement in planning the direction of their child's education. FACE uses an innovative approach for increasing fathers' involvement in their children's social and emotional development. Encouragement of parental involvement in students' educational opportunities makes them a critical component of this grant.
